Three members of the Farmersville High School Band will perform with the 4A Texas All State Band in San Antonio on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center as part of the 2024 Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention.
Gavin Richardson (Senior, Tuba), Yovanni Landaverde (Junior, Alto Sax), and Holden Stogsdill (Sophomore, Clarinet), earned this prestigious honor through a competitive process held this year across the state at the Region and Area levels. This year will mark Gavin’s second appearance at the state level, while Yovanni and Holden will be attending for their first time.
TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) sponsors the Texas All-State competition. This competitive process begins throughout the state in 33 different regions. Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrumentalist. From this point, the highest ranking students from the region level advance to compete in one of 5 area levels across the state. The highest ranking students from the Area level advance to perform at the state level. Students who advance to the state level represent the top 1-2% of musicians who begin the audition process.
The All-State students participate in four days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their performances for thousands of attendees bring this extraordinary event to a close.
